Advanced Herbal Apprenticeship

March - November 2018

The Advanced Herbal Apprenticeship focuses on professional herbalism skills, personal development, practical herbal protocols to support your family and community, formulation and medicine-making. Over the course of 9 months and 250 hours, apprentices experience the seasons of plants, including learning how to identify, harvest, and utilize local medicinal and edible plants.

Our Curriculum:

  • A review of body systems, including herbal and nutritional support for each system

  • Advanced materia medica with energetics and formulation

  • Professional herbalism skills

    • Interview skills

    • Legal scope of practice, referrals, and herbal safety

    • Professionalism, emotional Intelligence, forming a therapeutic relationship

    • Case studies

    • Herbal products and herbs in commerce

  • Bioregional Herbalism Skills

    • Local botany and plant ID using the plant family patterns method

    • Ecology- how to locate stands of medicinal herbs

    • Ethics of plant harvest and sustainable wildcrafting

    • Medicine making in the field

Our Schedule

  • 5 weekend immersions 10am - 4pm

  • 1 day a month 10am - 4pm

  • Case studies to help you embody and apply your herbal learning

  • Weekly herbal assignments to keep you connected to the plants

  • Weekly mentorship to help you grow your skills in advanced herbal topics.

  • Program is flexible for those needing to balance work, family and studies.

Equipment, Expenses, and Benefits:

All handouts and notes are included in tuition.  Books and additional supplies for assignments are not included.  For field trips, apprentices will need a daypack and outdoor gear, including tools for harvesting.  When you contact us we will send you a complete list that includes estimated costs and places to purchase.

Apprentices receive 20% off in the shop.

Registration policies

Cost: $3200; $600 non-refundable deposit reserves your spot. All balances are due prior to the start of the first class. Payment plans and work-trade are available. All payments are non-refundable. 

Students are encouraged to attend all sessions. In the event of absence make-up teaching sessions are not offered. However,  all hand-outs and notes will be supplied.
